江蘇省蘇州第一中學(xué)的傳統(tǒng)活動(dòng)之一 —— “紫藤杯”英語(yǔ)風(fēng)采大賽勝利落下帷幕！

第五屆校園“紫藤杯”英語(yǔ)風(fēng)采大賽于2017年5月5日下午在大禮堂舉行，來(lái)自高一年級(jí)各班以及蘇州國(guó)際預(yù)科學(xué)校的參賽代表隊(duì)參加了此次大賽。

蘇州國(guó)際預(yù)科學(xué)校IHS高一年級(jí)參賽隊(duì)以總分第一名的成績(jī)獲得“紫藤風(fēng)采獎(jiǎng)”，其中萬(wàn)怡同學(xué)更是勇奪“最佳語(yǔ)音獎(jiǎng)”。

充滿著青春活力和陽(yáng)光自信的一中學(xué)子和蘇州國(guó)際預(yù)科學(xué)校學(xué)子給在座的各位師生和評(píng)委帶來(lái)了一場(chǎng)精彩紛呈、具有國(guó)際范的英語(yǔ)文化盛宴。比賽共分三部分：英語(yǔ)才藝表演、英語(yǔ)演講和現(xiàn)場(chǎng)問(wèn)答。

在才藝表演環(huán)節(jié)部分，各個(gè)參賽隊(duì)以多樣化的形式展現(xiàn)了各自的風(fēng)采：融匯了中外名著名篇內(nèi)容而編排的英語(yǔ)短劇表演讓在場(chǎng)所有的觀眾都沉醉其中，表演者英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)言表達(dá)流暢，表演精致到位，得到了大家一致好評(píng)；英文經(jīng)典歌曲深情的演繹讓大家陶醉在優(yōu)美的旋律中，獲得掌聲陣陣！聲情并茂的電影配音，讓每一位觀眾感覺置身于原版電影中，深深地被吸引，同時(shí)也感受到了英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)言給大家?guī)?lái)美好和樂(lè)趣。各參賽隊(duì)都賽出了自己的風(fēng)采，賽出了最佳水平！

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.

Water is the source of all the lives. There's 75 percent of water in our body. There's 70 percent of water covering earth. When the astronomers explore the space, their eyes are always attracted by the trace of water.

Since the Industrial Revolution began to develop in last century, people have been requiring more and more water. Preserving the water resource has become a significant global topic. If we put the regional differences aside, there's 70 percent of water used for industry, 22 percent of water used for generating power and other industrial consumption. But there's only 8 percent of water used for cooking, bathing ,and drinking.

Wait! We only use 8 percent for brushing our teeth or something? It seems there's no need to save water.

Friends, although reducing shower time may not solve the issue of water resource, saving water is still everyone’s responsibility. Also do not forget about these numbers are just the average of macro data.

Many countries don't have enough clean water. So people find out a new technology, desalination of sea water, which is a critical technique for countries inaccessible to clean drinking water. We take the water from sea and through all means to get fresh water. But the process is highly expensive, even cost-prohibitive for many countries around the world. Also it will produce the brine and salt solution back to the sea. This is detrimental to local ecology of sea area. Under that circumstance, people have to devote large amount of money and time to addressing the issue. It's blindly for us to adopt this water-saving technology without taking other factors into consideration.

We should be considerate and sensible enough to resolve the issue from a wider perspective. We should determine how to use water wisely based on different situations in different regions. We, as high school students, responsible citizens and future decision-makers, should save water resource in our daily life and raise awareness of environmental protection. Friends, let’s make efforts to protect our planet.
